Small- Sided Football
Small sided football is a modified version of the 11 a-side game.
It gives children the chance to play real football, for a real team, whilst experiencing an enjoyable introduction to football through small-sided games.

Games are played festival style/round robin where possible, throughout the season
There are NO cups or league competitions, and as such NO league tables, There is NO recording and publishing of results on websites, print media or social media.
Fixtures are oganised for all available match dates across the season. Clubs may play each other multiple times depending on the number of teams in each age group.
Fixtures that are postponed (e.g. due to unfit pitch) are not rearranged.
The game format follows FAW regulations:

Under 7s: play 4 v 4 games (with no goalkeeper & no player is to stay in front of goal)

Under 8s & Under 9s : play 5 v 5 games

Under 10s & Under 11s: play 7 v 7 games
FIXTURES
- Club teams should bring along all available players in their squad to each fixture. Each club to split their teams into multiple playing sides, and play games round robin, preferably on 2 pitches.
- Please note that there is no competitive league players from both club teams can form a playing side in festival style football if players are happy to, so everyone gets max playing time and less waiting on side lines.
- As part of the confirmation of venue and kick-off time, clubs should notify each other of how many players they expect to be bringing to the game by the Wednesday before the game. This will enable hosting club to work out round robin game plan.
- If clubs want an earlier kick-off or want to bring the game forward to the Saturday they must seek approval with opponents and seek sanction from the league.

Buffer zones
Buffer zones are mandatory in the Monmouthshire Junior League and across Wales for both small sided football and junior competitive football.
All parents, relatives and other spectators are to stay behind the buffer zone, off the touchline and off the pitch!
Football should be a fun, safe and positive experience for every young person involved.
